Chad Conley, Owner

Chad began working with food as a teenager at the Portland Greengrocer (RIP!). His cooking career began in Portland, and took him to a three Michelin-starred kitchen in New York after traveling the country to volunteer for brief stints at restaurants he admired, including Chez Panisse, McCrady’s, Daniel, and many more.

After a year at Elliot Coleman’s Four Season Farm in Harborside, Chad returned to Portland and opened Palace Diner in 2014, Rose Foods in 2017, and Ramona’s in 2020.

Chad and his wife Rachel live in Portland with their three young boys. Chad has a sizable collection of menus, restaurant ephemera, and cookbooks. Chad may never return to cooking fancy food at night and enjoys having the work day done by 2:30.
